Two residents of Ogun State who were abducted by suspected kidnappers have regained their freedom after their families reportedly paid a ransom to secure their release.
The victims were kidnapped in separate incidents in different parts of the state, sparking concerns among residents over the rising cases of abduction. Family members and community leaders had appealed for their safe return while negotiations with the kidnappers were ongoing.
Confirming the development, the Ogun State Police Command said the victims were released after spending days in captivity. The command added that investigations had been intensified to identify and arrest those responsible for the abductions.
Police spokesperson CSP Omolola Odutola urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies, assuring the public that efforts were underway to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
The police also reiterated their commitment to tracking down the suspects and preventing similar incidents, while encouraging communities to work closely with security agencies by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of criminal elements.
