President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the people of Ekiti State to support the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the state prepares for its governorship poll.
According to Punch, Tinubu made the appeal while speaking on the political atmosphere in the state, describing Ekiti as fortunate to have a leader like Oyebanji, whose administration he said has demonstrated commitment to development and stability.
The President’s message comes as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifies campaign efforts ahead of the election, with top party figures also mobilising support for the incumbent governor’s second-term ambition. Vice President Kashim Shettima has also been involved in rallying voters, urging continuity in governance and describing Oyebanji’s leadership as an investment in the state’s progress.
Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election under the APC, has consistently enjoyed endorsements from party stakeholders in Ekiti, with campaign messaging largely focused on continuity, infrastructure development, and economic stability in the state.
The development adds to the build-up toward the Ekiti governorship election scheduled for June 2026, where the incumbent is expected to face candidates from opposition parties in what is anticipated to be a competitive race.
