The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers, rescued a victim, and recovered the gang’s operational vehicle in a major breakthrough against kidnapping and violent crime in the state.
According to Punch Newspaper, the victim, identified as Mrs. Ikechukwu, was abducted on July 11, 2026, while attending to customers at her shop. The kidnappers reportedly whisked her away in a white tinted mini-bus.
Following a report by her husband, Mr. Ikechukwu, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) launched an intelligence-driven investigation under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju.
The operation led to the arrest of four suspects identified as Owhor Chinedu, Isioto Waribok, Maduabuchi Emeka, and Joe Karachi, all from various local government areas in Rivers State.
Police also recovered a white mini-bus allegedly used by the gang during the abduction.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects confessed to their individual roles in the crime, while efforts have been intensified to arrest two remaining members of the syndicate and recover the firearms used during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police reassured residents that the Rivers State Police Command remains committed to ridding the state of kidnappers and other violent criminals.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to aid ongoing security operations.
