The Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election remains intact, despite reports that the list had been withdrawn for review.
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said the council’s structure would only be adjusted where necessary as additional subcommittees are constituted.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Dare said the campaign council list had not been withdrawn and remained valid.
He explained that several subcommittees were yet to be formed, creating room for more party leaders and political stakeholders to be incorporated into the campaign structure.
“That list has not been withdrawn. The APC has issued a statement to that effect yesterday, that list stands. But of course, there will be adjustments. The list is not cast in stone,” Dare said.
The presidential aide stressed that the expected changes should not be interpreted as a wholesale review of the council.
“Not a review, just adjustments where necessary,” he said, explaining that a review would suggest a major restructuring of the existing arrangement.
The clarification follows reactions to the APC’s announcement of its 2027 presidential campaign council and concerns over the inclusion and exclusion of some party figures.
The council currently has President Tinubu as chairman, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serve as vice-chairmen. Former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Yari was named Director-General, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma designated as secretary.
Dare said the planned subcommittees would provide additional opportunities for party members and other stakeholders to participate in the campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
