The Allied People’s Movement governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to complete the Ibadan Circular Road project if elected governor in 2027, despite losing his own land to the project.
Adekanmbi said his personal experience as one of those affected by the road construction would not stop him from supporting the project, which he described as important to the development of Oyo State.
The APM candidate, who spoke with journalists in Ibadan, said sacrifices were sometimes necessary to achieve meaningful development.
According to him, his land in the Ona-Ara area was affected by the ongoing project, but he remained committed to ensuring the completion of the Circular Road.
Adekanmbi also promised to address areas where challenges had emerged around the project if elected governor.
He further dismissed suggestions that he would operate as a political stooge of Governor Seyi Makinde, insisting that he should be held accountable for his own decisions.
The former Commissioner for Finance said continuity was necessary to sustain development in Oyo State and promised to unveil a manifesto containing measurable targets for his first 100 days, six months and one year in office.
