Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has declared that the people of the state will not surrender to intimidation or what he described as “forces of darkness” as preparations intensify for the August 15 governorship election.
According to Punch Newspaper, Adeleke made the declaration on Wednesday while flagging off his re-election campaign in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, where thousands of supporters and party faithful gathered to launch the campaign.
The governor assured supporters that his political party would remain on the ballot despite legal disputes surrounding the status of some political parties, expressing confidence that the electoral process would be conducted fairly.
“I assure you all that our party will be on the ballot, your votes will count, and we will emerge victorious,” Adeleke said, urging supporters not to be discouraged by threats or intimidation.
He called on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all polling units, stressing that democracy and the rule of law must prevail throughout the election period.
Adeleke also unveiled key priorities for another term in office, promising to focus on youth and women empowerment, workers’ welfare, infrastructure development, agro-industrial expansion, affordable healthcare and education, as well as improving the business environment to create more jobs if re-elected.
The campaign rally also witnessed the defection of several political figures and supporters into Adeleke’s party, with the defectors pledging to work for his re-election in the forthcoming governorship poll.
