The Osun State Police Command has arrested the state Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Adejoorin, following a shooting incident that disrupted an All Progressives Congress campaign rally in Ilesa.
The commissioner was arrested in connection with the gunshots fired during the political gathering, according to a report by Vanguard.
The incident occurred amid heightened political activities in Osun ahead of the August 15 governorship election, raising fresh concerns over political violence in the state.
The police also arrested another individual in connection with the incident as investigations continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Reports indicated that some supporters sustained injuries during the incident and were taken to hospital for treatment.
