The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed October 20, 2026, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, disclosed this while speaking on the party’s preparations for the elections.
According to Cleopas, the inauguration will take place alongside a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee, where key decisions concerning the elections will be ratified.
The event will also include the presentation of Certificates of Return to the party’s candidates and a dinner aimed at strengthening cooperation among members ahead of the elections.
Cleopas said the party had been working on the structure of the campaign council and was taking time to ensure that the right individuals were appointed to strategic positions.
He dismissed claims that the NDC was inactive or divided, saying the party had continued consultations and engagements across the country.
The NDC is fielding Peter Obi as its presidential candidate and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.
The party had earlier said Obi and Kwankwaso would have input in the selection of key campaign officials, including the Director-General, spokesperson, head of new media and finance directors.
Cleopas said the NDC remained focused on challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
