The Lagos State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has declared Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the opposition’s strongest presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, urging political parties seeking to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rally behind him.
The party said Makinde has demonstrated leadership, governance experience and growing national acceptance, qualities it believes make him the most credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.
According to the APM, the governor’s performance in Oyo State has earned him widespread support across political and regional lines, arguing that he is well-positioned to unite opposition forces ahead of the 2027 polls.
The Lagos APM also appealed to opposition leaders to put aside personal ambitions and work towards presenting a formidable candidate capable of mounting a strong challenge in the presidential election. It maintained that a united opposition would improve its chances of success at the polls.
