The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure a second term in office, insisting that the 2027 presidential election would be a straightforward victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Keyamo made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he argued that the opposition lacked the political strength and electoral support needed to unseat the incumbent president.
The minister described the 2027 presidential contest as more of a “coronation” than a competitive election, maintaining that current political realities and voting demographics strongly favour President Tinubu’s re-election bid. He questioned the electoral base of leading opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, saying they face significant challenges in mounting a successful campaign.
Keyamo also pointed to the APC’s performance in recent off-cycle governorship elections as evidence that the ruling party continues to enjoy widespread support across the country. According to him, these victories demonstrate that Nigerians remain confident in the Tinubu administration despite criticisms from opposition parties.
