The Federal Government has intensified efforts against School Bullying, warning that students found guilty of bullying or intimidating their peers could face suspension, expulsion, and public identification.
The warning was issued during a sensitisation workshop on the National Policy on Anti-Bullying organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Abuja.
The workshop, themed “Sensitisation Workshop for Students and Teachers on the National Policy on Anti-Bullying and the Effects of Bullying,” brought together teachers and students from schools across the Federal Capital Territory to promote safer learning environments.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said School Bullying has no place in Nigerian schools, stressing that the government is committed to protecting learners and creating a safe environment where every child can thrive.
He warned that any student found engaging in bullying would face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with the National Policy on Anti-Bullying, adding that schools must take proactive steps to prevent abuse and intimidation among students.
The Federal Government urged school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to work together to eliminate School Bullying, encourage positive behaviour, and ensure that schools remain safe spaces for learning and personal development.
