The Benue State Police Command has rescued a newborn baby allegedly stolen from a healthcare facility in Gboko and arrested suspects believed to be connected to the incident.
The command confirmed the recovery of the baby on Thursday while providing an update on the investigation. Punch Newspaper reports that the newborn was allegedly taken from the Family Healthcare Centre in the Gboko area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Peter Aondongu, confirmed that suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the command, investigations are ongoing to establish how the baby was taken from the facility and determine the roles played by those arrested.
The recovery of the child comes as a relief to the family and residents following the reported disappearance from the healthcare centre.
