Bayelsa Deputy Governor Urges Women to Help Tackle Insecurity

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Peter Akpe, has called on women across Nigeria to take a more active role in combating insecurity, crime, and other social challenges affecting the country.

Akpe made the call on Wednesday when a delegation of the Diri/Akpe Women Support Group from Bayelsa West Senatorial District paid him a solidarity visit at Government House, Yenagoa.

The Deputy Governor said women’s involvement in behavioural change communication at the family, community, state, and national levels would go a long way in addressing many of the problems confronting Nigeria.

He stressed that women are central to nation-building and urged them to champion value reorientation, patriotism, and positive social behaviour within their homes and communities.

Akpe noted that by promoting discipline, contentment, and high moral standards, women could help build a more peaceful and progressive society.

He also encouraged women to see themselves as agents of social engineering, capable of driving meaningful change and influencing future generations toward responsible citizenship.
