The Awori Renaissance Forum has called on the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to reconsider the disqualification of its Alimosho Federal Constituency candidate, Olalekan Anjolaiya, insisting that the decision undermines the political aspirations of the indigenous Awori people.
The group’s coordinator, Muraina Ajala, said the appeal followed reports that Anjolaiya was disqualified over alleged multiple party registration. He argued that replacing him with a non-indigene would further marginalise Awori-speaking communities in Alimosho despite the availability of qualified indigenous candidates.
Ajala urged the ADC national leadership, particularly National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, to relist Anjolaiya as the party’s candidate, describing him as the “only hope” for indigenous Awori representation in the constituency.
The forum also maintained that Anjolaiya had made significant contributions to community development, earning him the traditional title of Bobakeye of Igandoland, and warned that denying him the ticket would amount to another setback for the Awori people in Alimosho.
