Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, alleging that there are fresh efforts to prevent the party from participating in the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku claimed he had received credible information suggesting that political and legal manoeuvres were being coordinated to keep the ADC off the ballot. He described the alleged move as an attempt to weaken the opposition and deny Nigerians a genuine democratic choice in the next elections.
The former presidential candidate maintained that democracy can only thrive when all eligible political parties are allowed to participate in free and fair elections. He called on Nigerians, civil society groups and democratic institutions to resist any action capable of undermining the country’s multiparty system.
Atiku also expressed confidence that the ADC would withstand any political or legal challenges, insisting that no amount of intimidation would stop the party from offering Nigerians what he described as a credible alternative in the 2027 general election.
