The Nigeria Democratic Congress has called for an electronic audit of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s nomination portal after disowning 10 candidates published for the 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly elections.
The party said the candidates neither emerged through its nomination process nor had their Form EC9E documents submitted by the NDC.
The party’s Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theophilus Agada, said the NDC had only uploaded candidates approved through its appeal process, alleging that INEC rejected those names and later published persons unknown to the party.
The NDC questioned how the names and credentials of the affected individuals appeared on INEC’s portal, insisting that political parties are legally responsible for submitting candidates and their particulars.
