The Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress have expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, dismissing predictions by opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso that the ruling party could lose power.
Minister of Defence Christopher Musa said the APC remained confident across major elections, including the presidential and governorship polls, particularly in Kaduna State.
Musa, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, described claims of growing rejection of the APC and Tinubu in the North as largely a matter of perception.
He said the President had taken difficult decisions that could gradually produce positive results for Nigerians.
“I can tell you, APC will win,” Musa said, insisting that the party remained strong despite opposition criticism of the administration.
His comments came after Obi and Kwankwaso urged their supporters to remain vigilant ahead of the 2027 general elections and warned against any attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
Kwankwaso had argued that controlling several state governments would not guarantee victory for the APC, citing the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election.
However, the APC dismissed the opposition leaders’ predictions as wishful thinking, maintaining that President Tinubu would retain the presidency in 2027.
