2027: Oyo APC Reconciles Aggrieved Aspirants, Targets United Front for Polls

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has stepped up efforts to resolve internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aggrieved House of Assembly aspirants agreeing to put their differences aside and support the party’s candidates.

The reconciliation followed a meeting between the Oyo APC House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee and aspirants who participated in the party’s recent primary elections across the state’s 32 constituencies.

The exercise was aimed at addressing grievances that followed the primaries and preventing internal disputes from weakening the party’s chances at the 2027 elections.

The reconciliation committee said most of the affected aspirants had demonstrated maturity and accepted the outcome of the primary process in the interest of the APC.

The committee urged members and supporters to embrace reconciliation and work collectively towards strengthening the party across Oyo State.

The development is particularly significant for the APC, which has been working to close ranks following disagreements over the emergence of its candidates in the state.

The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, welcomed the reconciliation, describing it as evidence of progress in efforts to build a united APC ahead of the election.

“I am happy. I told you two weeks ago when we had the other one that we are forging ahead. And we have recorded a lot of progress in APC ahead of 2027. This is an indication that we will win the forthcoming general elections in Oyo State,” Alli said.

The reconciled aspirants also pledged their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections.

The move comes as the APC continues a broader reconciliation exercise aimed at preventing the disagreements generated by its primaries from affecting its electoral prospects.

Earlier, the party had constituted another reconciliation committee to engage aggrieved governorship aspirants and other stakeholders. Although some prominent figures, including Teslim Folarin and Bayo Adelabu, were absent when the committee submitted its findings, the party leadership maintained that reconciliation remained an ongoing process.
