The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council in Osun State has demanded the arrest of those responsible for the killing of Oladele Ayegbo, nephew of the Director-General of the council, Oluwole Oke, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The APC made the demand on Thursday while raising concerns over what it described as escalating political violence across the state. The party alleged that about 40 of its members had been killed in separate incidents in recent weeks.
The Head of Media and Publicity of the campaign council, Remi Omowaiye, also alleged that suspected hoodlums linked to the Accord Party attacked APC members at Alarere village in the early hours of Thursday.
The allegations have further heightened tensions between the major political camps as Osun residents prepare to vote in the governorship election.
Political parties in the state have continued to trade accusations over attacks and alleged intimidation, with rival camps calling for security agencies to investigate incidents and bring perpetrators to justice.
The development comes amid growing concerns over political violence ahead of the election, with stakeholders urging supporters of all parties to maintain peace and allow voters to exercise their franchise without fear.
