The Anambra State Police Command says it has uncovered an alleged plot to murder a businessman and take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The command said four suspects were arrested following intelligence gathered during an investigation into the alleged plan. Punch Newspaper reports that the police said the suspects were linked to an attempt to unlawfully acquire the businessman’s property.
According to the police, the investigation was initiated following intelligence arrangements put in place by the Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama.
The command said operatives moved to prevent the alleged plot from being carried out and subsequently arrested the suspects.
The police also recovered items believed to be connected to the investigation, although the suspects’ identities and the full details of the alleged plan were not immediately disclosed.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over disputes involving landed properties, particularly where disagreements can escalate into threats of violence or attempts to forcibly take possession of property.
The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy and identify other individuals who may have been involved.
The command assured residents that it would continue to use intelligence-led policing to prevent planned attacks and protect lives and property across the state.
