The campaign team of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has threatened to sue Senator Francis Fadahunsi for N10bn over alleged defamatory statements made against the governor’s campaign spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, issued the threat in a letter dated August 12, 2026, demanding that the senator retract the statements and issue a public apology within 24 hours.
The dispute centres on comments allegedly made by Fadahunsi during interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.
In the letter, Olajengbesi’s legal team accused the senator of making statements that questioned his client’s identity and alleged that he was associated with and sponsored members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.
The lawyer said the allegations were false and had damaged Olajengbesi’s personal, professional and political reputation.
Olajengbesi reportedly denied ever sponsoring, financing or supporting any cult group or providing resources for criminal or political activities.
The letter demanded that Fadahunsi publish a retraction and an “unequivocal and unreserved” apology through the same media and social media platforms where the alleged statements were circulated.
Failure to comply within the 24-hour deadline, the lawyer warned, would result in legal action seeking N10bn in general and aggravated damages for defamation and injurious falsehood.
