Two ADC Governorship Aspirants Quit Party in Katsina Ahead of 2027

The African Democratic Congress has suffered a fresh setback in Katsina State as two of its governorship aspirants in the 2026 primary election have resigned from the party.

The development has further deepened concerns over internal disagreements within the ADC as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The two aspirants were among those who contested the party’s governorship ticket but have now chosen to leave the ADC.

Their departure comes amid previous reports of factional disagreements within the party in Katsina, where rival groups had produced different governorship candidates during the party’s primary process.

The latest development could raise fresh questions about the ADC’s ability to maintain a united structure in Katsina as it seeks to challenge the established political order ahead of 2027.

The party has attracted several prominent politicians in the state in recent months, including former officials and political figures who defected from the APC and PDP.
