Adeleke Alleges EFCC Plot to Freeze Osun Government Accounts

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is planning to freeze the bank accounts of the state government ahead of the August 15 governorship election, warning that such a move would cripple government activities.

Adeleke, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said he had received “credible reports” that the anti-graft agency had concluded plans to freeze all Osun State Government accounts as well as those of top government officials.

The governor described the alleged move as “the height of lawlessness,” claiming it was aimed at paralysing the operations of his administration just days before the governorship poll. He maintained that there was no legal justification for such action and called on relevant authorities to ensure due process is followed.

As of the time the allegation was made public, the EFCC had not officially responded to the claims.
