The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it is prepared to end the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s administration in Kwara State during the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that it has emerged as the preferred alternative for residents seeking political change.
According to Punch Newspaper, the party made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin, where its leaders said growing dissatisfaction with both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had created an opportunity for the ADC to take over leadership of the state.
A former Minister of Sports and one of the party’s leaders, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the ADC represents a new political direction built on accountability, service and principled leadership.
He argued that while the APC continues to promote its Renewed Hope Agenda, many Nigerians believe the policy has not translated into meaningful improvements in their daily lives. He also described the PDP as no longer serving as a strong opposition force.
Abdullahi said the ADC remains open to welcoming politicians from other parties but stressed that new members must embrace the party’s ideals rather than attempt to influence its direction.
On the 2027 governorship election, he expressed confidence in the party’s candidate, Hon. Zakari Muhammed, saying he possesses the political and administrative experience needed to lead Kwara State.
He urged party members to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation, expressing optimism that the ADC would secure victory in both the governorship and other elective positions in the 2027 elections.
