Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris is supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid because of the development projects and federal interventions the state has received under the current administration, the governor’s aide has said.
The Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the governor, Abdullahi Idris, made this known in a statement issued on Monday titled, “In Defence of Governor Idris’ Support for President Tinubu.”
The aide said Governor Idris had both the moral and political responsibility to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, arguing that Kebbi State had benefited significantly from its alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
He noted that the people of Kebbi freely elected Governor Idris under the APC in the 2023 governorship election, describing the victory as a reflection of public confidence in the governor’s leadership, labour background, and commitment to development.
The statement also stressed that Nigeria’s multi-party democracy allows citizens to freely choose their political parties and leaders, adding that Kebbi residents made that choice when they voted for the APC in 2023.
The governor’s aide called on APC members and supporters across Kebbi State to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure another victory for President Tinubu.
He maintained that sustaining a strong relationship between Kebbi State and the Federal Government would help the state attract more developmental projects and investments.
