Bayelsa PDP Chairman: Politics Demands Resilience, Hard Work

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, George Turnah, has said politics requires resilience, commitment and continuous grassroots mobilisation, stressing that victory comes through hard work rather than popularity alone.

Turnah made the remarks during a reception for former All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Gabriel Claudius, popularly known as the “One Million Man,” and his supporters, who recently defected to the PDP in Elebele, Ogbia Local Government Area.

He said the PDP had already begun preparations for the 2028 Bayelsa governorship election and remained confident despite recent political realignments in the state.

“Politics is not for the weak. It is not enough to say you are popular or that you have supporters. You must continue to work until INEC declares your candidate the winner,” Turnah said.

The PDP chairman described Claudius’ return to the party as a significant boost to its grassroots mobilisation efforts and urged members to intensify their engagement with voters across the state.

Turnah also dismissed suggestions that the PDP had been weakened by recent political developments, insisting the party still possesses the structure, experience and capacity needed to win future elections.

He added that the party had identified strategic constituencies that would receive greater attention as preparations for the next governorship poll gather momentum.
