A court has sentenced three men to life imprisonment over their involvement in the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The convicts were found guilty in connection with the May 15, 2026 attack in which dozens of pupils and teachers were kidnapped from schools in the Oriire area.
The case followed a 10-count charge filed by the Federal Government, bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement, and illegal mining.
The abduction had sparked nationwide outrage after armed men attacked schools in Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities, taking pupils and teachers into captivity for several weeks.
The victims were later rescued by security agencies after spending 56 days in captivity.
