A close ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has left the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued stay in office beyond the 2027 general election.
The politician, while announcing his decision, said there would be no vacancy in the Presidential Villa until 2031, expressing confidence that President Tinubu would secure another term in office.
The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as opposition figures and parties continue efforts to build a strong challenge against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC and its supporters have repeatedly maintained that President Tinubu deserves another term, citing ongoing reforms and programmes of the administration as reasons for their support.
However, opposition groups, including the ADC, have criticised the “no vacancy” declaration, insisting that political power belongs to Nigerians and that every elected leader must seek a fresh mandate through elections.
