The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbery suspects and recovered a firearm and other incriminating items during a security operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the state.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol attached to the Oyo/Ogbomoso axis during a routine patrol operation, following the interception of a vehicle suspected to be linked to criminal activities.
According to the police, the suspects, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed Dabban and Ndako Sulaimon, are residents of the Sabo area of Sagamu, Ogun State. They were taken into custody for further investigation after officers discovered suspicious items during a search of their vehicle.
The recovered items included a live cartridge, a cutlass, two jackknives, a handcuff, suspected illicit substances, fetish items and a uniform belonging to a private security outfit, among other materials. The police said the discoveries raised concerns over the activities and intentions of the suspects.
The command said the arrest was part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen security across Oyo State through intelligence-led operations, patrols and targeted interventions against violent crimes.
Police authorities explained that the suspects had been transferred for detailed investigation to determine their possible involvement in robbery-related activities and identify other individuals who may be connected to their operations.
The Oyo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting residents and maintaining public safety, while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in tackling criminal activities.
