Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serving their first term have unanimously declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, endorsing the continuation of his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda beyond the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting of the APC first-term governors held in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, where the governors reviewed the country’s political and economic landscape and reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s leadership.
The governors said their backing for President Tinubu was driven by the need to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, strengthening governance and improving national development. They stressed that continuity in leadership would allow key policies introduced by the administration to mature and deliver lasting benefits to Nigerians.
According to the communiqué, the governors believe the President’s reform agenda has laid a foundation for long-term economic recovery and institutional stability, adding that supporting his re-election goes beyond partisan considerations.
“Our support for President Bola Tinubu is not based on politics alone,” the governors stated, noting that policy consistency remains essential for achieving meaningful national progress.
They also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across their respective states in support of the APC, while encouraging party members to remain united ahead of future electoral contests.
The meeting further reaffirmed the governors’ confidence in the leadership of the APC at both the national and state levels, with participants calling on party stakeholders to prioritise internal cohesion and collective responsibility.
The endorsement comes amid growing political alignments and early consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, as political parties and interest groups continue to position themselves for the next electoral cycle. While the APC governors have thrown their weight behind President Tinubu’s continuity agenda, opposition parties are also stepping up preparations as the race towards 2027 gradually gathers momentum.
