The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, has declared that the party is stronger, more united and well-positioned to reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election. He said the PDP remains the most structured political party in the state with a presence across all wards and polling units.
Speaking during his first official homecoming in Umuahia after emerging as the party’s governorship candidate, Anosike thanked delegates for their support and described his emergence as a sign of renewed confidence in the PDP. He said the party had regained momentum and was ready to mount a formidable challenge in the next election.
The PDP flag bearer pledged to prioritise workers’ welfare, improve industrial harmony and create more economic opportunities if elected governor. He unveiled plans to establish the Abia Labour Global Opportunities Agency to equip youths with skills for the international job market and the Abia State Informal Sector Development Regulatory Agency to regulate and certify artisans and other informal sector operators.
Anosike also promised to expand agricultural production through an “Operation Feed Abia” initiative, create jobs in agriculture and industry, establish a sports academy to nurture young talents, improve healthcare through a state health insurance scheme and upgrade rural infrastructure to boost economic development.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in 2027, insisting that the party had successfully completed the documentation and nomination process with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and remained united ahead of the polls.
