The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled Rev. Cornelius Olaosebikan Fawenu as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Engr. Bolakale Kawu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, in Ilorin.
According to the party, Fawenu’s emergence followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across Kwara North, Kwara Central and Kwara South senatorial districts. Kawu, in a letter to the state chairman, described his running mate as a leader of proven integrity, humility, compassion and exceptional leadership.
The PDP said Rev. Fawenu, an indigene of Babaloma in Ifelodun Local Government Area and the party’s Kwara South Senatorial Chairman, was selected after a rigorous process involving four prominent contenders. It added that the Kawu-Fawenu ticket reflects competence, inclusiveness, grassroots engagement and balanced representation.
The party expressed confidence that the ticket would strengthen its bid to reclaim power in Kwara State in the 2027 election, describing Fawenu as a loyal party man with a track record of promoting peaceful governance, religious harmony and community development.
