National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has expressed confidence that opposition parties can defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election if the process is conducted freely and fairly.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Dickson said the APC government had failed to meet the expectations of many Nigerians, insisting that growing public dissatisfaction would be reflected at the polls. He maintained that the opposition stands a strong chance of victory in a transparent electoral contest.
The former Bayelsa State governor called on the authorities to ensure a level playing field for all political parties, stressing that elections should be decided by the will of the electorate rather than any form of interference.
Dickson also disclosed that the NDC remains open to discussions with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, although he said it was too early to predict the outcome of any coalition talks. He added that the party believes in the strength of its candidates and remains optimistic about its prospects.
