Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, saying federal government policies and increased allocations to states have made governance easier for his administration and other governors across the country.
Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji recalled that his administration struggled to meet wage obligations and execute capital projects in the months before Tinubu assumed office. He noted that subsequent interventions by the federal government provided states with more resources, enabling his government to pursue its development agenda more effectively.
The governor also pointed to ongoing federal road projects linking Ekiti State, saying they have reduced pressure on his administration from residents demanding improved infrastructure. According to him, the cost of some of the road projects would have been beyond the state’s financial capacity without federal intervention.
Oyebanji further stated that increased revenue to the state had enabled his administration to improve funding for tertiary institutions, meet workers’ demands and maintain industrial harmony. He added that his government has paid more than N85 billion in pensions and gratuities since assuming office in 2022.
The governor maintained that the achievements recorded by his administration have contributed to public support for his government, while also commending the media for promoting accountability and public awareness in the state.
