According to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, he keeps a careful eye on developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
Wike clarified that his interest in the matter stems from his worry for the party’s survival and vitality after having held federal government in the past.
Speaking to delegates at the PDP’s 105th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Monday, he revealed this.
He claims that his desire to see the party succeed drives his constant monitoring of events in the Oyo State chapter.
“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP. That is all I am interested in,” he said.
Wike also denied charges that PDP members were being intimidated, stating that in light of recent court rulings, such accusations were no longer credible.
“Who will intimidate us to the end? Some of us, by the grace of God, do not see what anyone can threaten us with.
“The legal battle has ended. They have no option but to recognise the Caretaker Committee,” Wike said.
His remark coincides with the controversy surrounding Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. After a falling out, the erstwhile allies joined other groups.
A national convention organized by Makinde and Governor Bala Mohammed was held in November of last year, but it was later canceled by the Federal High Court in Oyo State.
