Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has raised fresh concerns over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s suitability for the 2027 presidential election.
According to Punch Newspaper, Lawal made the remarks during a telephone interview while reacting to the controversy surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship ticket in Adamawa State.
The former SGF accused Atiku of engaging in ethnic politics and warned that such an approach could further deepen divisions in the country if allowed to shape national leadership.
Lawal argued that Nigeria requires leaders who can promote national unity, fairness, and inclusiveness, rather than those he claimed are driven by sectional interests.
