The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has denied endorsing Governor Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 governorship election.
The party dismissed the reported endorsement as untrue, insisting that it remains united and committed to its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. Punch Newspaper reported the development on Sunday.
The clarification comes amid reports of divisions within the Kebbi PDP over whether the party should support the incumbent governor in the next governorship election.
The state chapter maintained that no decision had been taken to abandon the PDP or endorse the APC candidate.
The party also sought to reassure its members and supporters that its structure remained intact despite the disagreements and reports surrounding its position ahead of the election.
The development is likely to heighten political attention in Kebbi, where the APC and PDP remain major contenders as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.
The PDP’s denial also comes at a time when political realignments and endorsements are increasingly shaping discussions ahead of the 2027 polls across the country.
