The Osun State Police Command has announced plans to prosecute 13 suspects arrested for alleged kidnapping, cultism, ritual-related offences, stealing, hooliganism and unlawful possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp during separate operations across the state.
Speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, said the suspects were apprehended through intelligence-led operations carried out in different parts of Osun State. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring those responsible are brought to justice.
The police also disclosed that operatives recently rescued a kidnapped herder during a gun battle with abductors and recovered ₦2.2 million believed to have been paid as ransom. Authorities said the successful operation reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks operating within the state.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring the public that investigations into the suspects’ activities are ongoing ahead of their prosecution.
