The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging residents of the ancient town to vote massively for the governor in the August 15 governorship election.
The royal father made the declaration during the inauguration of the first phase of the Ejigbo-Iwo Road project executed by the Adeleke administration in Ejigbo on Thursday.
Oba Oyesosin said the governor’s performance, particularly in road infrastructure, had convinced him that Adeleke deserved another term in office. He noted that the completed projects had addressed longstanding challenges facing Ejigbo and neighbouring communities.
The monarch told his subjects that the administration had demonstrated commitment to the development of the town, adding that they should reciprocate by supporting the governor at the polls despite the fact that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Najeem Salaam, is an indigene of Ejigbo.
Responding, Governor Adeleke thanked the traditional ruler and other royal fathers for their support, assuring them that his administration would complete the remaining sections of the road project. He also pledged to fulfil other promises made to the people of the area.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Bello Bashir, said the 33-kilometre Ejigbo-Iwo road links several communities and is being reconstructed in phases to improve transportation and boost economic activities across the axis.
