Troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation was carried out in Jegalari Village, where security operatives apprehended the suspects and recovered a cache of weapons and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The military said the operation was based on credible intelligence and forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping and other criminal networks operating in the North-East.
Items recovered from the suspects include firearms, ammunition and other exhibits, which have been taken into custody as investigations continue. Security agencies are also working to identify and arrest other members of the suspected criminal syndicate.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at improving security across Yobe State and other parts of the North-East.
Residents were urged to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing operations against kidnappers, terrorists and other criminal elements.
