The Jigawa State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the economic hardship facing Nigerians, saying the government’s recent reduction in fuel prices is insufficient to ease the burden on citizens.
Nakudu said Nigerians had continued to struggle with the effects of the Federal Government’s economic policies since Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, particularly following the removal of the petrol subsidy.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the ADC chieftain called for urgent and sustainable measures to improve living conditions, arguing that a temporary reduction in fuel prices would not address the wider economic challenges facing households.
He attributed the recent one-month fuel price reduction to pressure from the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who had proposed restoring the fuel subsidy to ease the suffering of Nigerians.
“The one-month reduction in fuel prices announced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration is a result of the recent proposal by the ADC presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to restore the fuel subsidy to ease the suffering of Nigerians,” Nakudu said.
He maintained that Nigerians needed lasting economic relief rather than temporary measures, insisting that the current administration had yet to adequately address the difficulties facing ordinary citizens.
Nakudu also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), blaming its policies for the hardship experienced by Nigerians.
The ADC candidate urged Nigerians not to regard the temporary fuel price reduction as a permanent solution, arguing that more comprehensive action was needed to tackle the rising cost of living.
