The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.

Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, expressing gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve in the state government.

In the letter, he described his time in office as an honour, saying he was proud to have contributed to the administration’s efforts to promote the growth and development of Oyo State.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he said.

Ogunwuyi added that he was leaving the position with gratitude and confidence in the continued progress of the state.

He also reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The former Chief of Staff previously served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.

His resignation comes amid a series of departures by political aides from Makinde’s administration over the past two months.

However, Ogunwuyi did not state a specific reason for his resignation in the letter.
