A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has urged Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to meet with APC governors and explain his proposed Rainbow Coalition.
Igbokwe made the call while reacting to the disagreement between Wike and members of the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum over the political initiative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike had criticised the APC governors after they rejected the proposed coalition, describing them as “politically lazy.”
The governors, led by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, had said they would not support any political arrangement that could undermine the APC or President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Reacting to the disagreement, Igbokwe said Wike remained an important political stakeholder whose influence should not be ignored.
He, however, urged the FCT minister to engage the APC governors directly and explain the objectives of the Rainbow Coalition.
According to him, the disagreements should be resolved through consultation rather than public exchanges.
Igbokwe said Wike should “listen to majority” and sit down with the governors to explain what he intends to achieve with the political arrangement.
“No man is an Island. Explain to your colleagues what you are trying to do,” he said.
