The Nasarawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen who abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) from their off-campus residence in Lafia, the state capital.
According to Punch, the students were kidnapped from their lodge located outside the university campus, prompting security agencies to begin search-and-rescue operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident, saying the command received a distress report and immediately deployed tactical teams to the area to rescue the victims and track down the kidnappers.
Nansel said police personnel, in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, have intensified operations around the affected community and surrounding forests in an effort to locate the abducted students.
He assured residents that every available resource was being deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile, sources within the Federal University of Lafia said the institution was aware of reports of an attack on a student but had not immediately confirmed the reported abduction of the three undergraduates.
As of the time of filing this report, the university management had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
