Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chibudom Nwuche, has mourned the death of former PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, describing his passing as a major loss to Nigeria.
Nwuche, who served as Tukur’s deputy between 2012 and 2014, described the late politician as his leader, mentor and father figure.
In a condolence message, Nwuche said Tukur made significant contributions to Nigeria through politics, public service and business.
He recalled that Tukur led the PDP with firmness and promoted party supremacy and national unity during his tenure as national chairman.
According to Nwuche, Tukur’s career included serving as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, governor of the old Gongola State and minister, alongside his involvement in continental business organisations.
“Nigeria has lost a colossus,” Nwuche said, adding that the former PDP chairman lived a fulfilled life of service.
He also described Tukur as generous, disciplined and committed to developing younger Nigerians, saying the late elder statesman believed strongly in the country’s potential.
Tukur died at the age of 91, with tributes continuing to come from political leaders and other Nigerians following his death.
