The All Progressives Congress has selected Emmanuel Ombugadu as the deputy governorship candidate to run alongside its 2027 governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Wadada, in Nasarawa State.
Ombugadu’s emergence followed a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where Governor Abdullahi Sule announced the decision after consultations among party leaders and aspirants for the position.
Sule said several people were considered for the position but the aspirants agreed to support whoever was eventually selected.
He urged members of the party to remain united ahead of the 2027 election, stressing that the APC needed to approach the election as a united political organisation.
“We cannot go into these elections divided. That is the reason we invited this meeting, so that we can keep together, make a decision together, and go together,” Sule said.
Wadada, who is the party’s governorship candidate, welcomed Ombugadu’s selection and said the decision reflected the position of the party leadership and zoning considerations.
He also appealed to other aspirants who sought the deputy governorship ticket to accept the outcome and work with the party ahead of the election.
Ombugadu thanked Sule and other APC stakeholders for choosing him, describing the decision as an important step towards maintaining cohesion within the party.
He acknowledged that some of the other aspirants may have been disappointed by the outcome but said they had pledged their loyalty to the APC.
