Barau Urges Aggrieved APC Aspirants to Support Party’s Candidates

Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, has urged All Progressives Congress aspirants who lost in the party’s 2027 primaries to put their differences aside and support those who emerged as candidates.

Barau made the call on Tuesday while inaugurating the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council for the 2027 elections, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.

The Deputy Senate President said the APC could not afford divisions arising from the primary elections, stressing the need for members to remain united ahead of the general elections.

He urged successful aspirants to work with their colleagues who contested for the same tickets but were unsuccessful, saying all members remained part of the same political family.

Barau noted that competition for party tickets was normal in a democratic system, but said the outcome of the primaries should not lead to divisions within the party.

He also pointed to the presence of some unsuccessful aspirants at the campaign council’s inauguration as an indication of their continued commitment to the APC.

“The primaries are over. All members remain part of the same political family, APC,” Barau said.

He added that the party’s overall objective should be to secure victory for its candidates in the 2027 general elections.
