The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has unveiled a series of promises ahead of the 2027 general elections, including a N500,000 monthly living minimum wage and 24-hour electricity.
Sowore made the promises in an interview with Independent, where he outlined the AAC’s agenda for the 2027 presidential election.
He said his administration would also make education free and accessible at all levels, arguing that no Nigerian child should be denied education because of poverty.
The AAC candidate further promised to construct one million public mixed-income homes and reform tenancy laws to address the burden of paying one or two years’ rent in advance.
Sowore said his government would prioritise healthcare, industrialisation, agriculture and infrastructure while creating what he described as dignified employment opportunities.
On security, he promised to reform the police, improve the welfare of security personnel and deploy modern technology, including drones and advanced intelligence systems, to tackle insecurity.
He also pledged to fight corruption and recover public funds allegedly stolen by political officeholders, insisting that Nigeria’s wealth should benefit Nigerians.
Sowore, who is among the 18 presidential candidates formally announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, said the AAC would run a “people funded campaign” rather than depend on wealthy individuals or political patrons.
