The Osun State Government has ordered security agencies to arrest those responsible for the killing of an Accord Party chieftain, Olalekan Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir, in Ile-Ife.
Ajagungbade was reportedly shot dead on Sunday during a clash linked to a leadership tussle over the control of Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife.
Following the incident, Governor Ademola Adeleke directed the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, to immediately arrest everyone involved in the killing and restore peace in the affected areas.
The governor also ordered warring groups to vacate motor parks across the state, while announcing plans to reintroduce the Park Management System to restore order in motor parks and garages.
The incident reportedly triggered further clashes in Ile-Ife, while gunshots were also heard in parts of Osogbo, forcing some residents to remain indoors.
A security source said Ajagungbade was attacked during a meeting with some drivers at Mayfair Motor Park before he was shot in the head during a fight with a rival group.
Adeleke condemned the violence and assured residents that his administration would work with security agencies to restore normalcy and bring those responsible to justice.
