Prof Anthony Kila, Professor of Strategy and Development, has said constitutional adjustments are not sufficiently enough to show Nigeria the path of mutually shared peace and progress.

Professor Kila, a visitor on a political show has stated that Nigeria needs a people constitution to replace the 1999 Constitution (as revised). He portrayed as “faulty”, the current constitution set up by the military quite a long time back.

“We are in a situation in Nigeria in particular where minor inputs are not enough but globally because of the times we live in, you need quick and intense intervention to obtain anything,” he stated .

Professor Anthony, a member of The Patriots, a group of eminent Nigerians led by former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaokuas of late met with President Bola Tinubu to push the plan for a people constitution, was named the chairman of the group’s advocacy committee for the actualization of people’s constitution.

He specified, “The constitution starts by saying, ‘We, the people’. It’s not true; those three words are bogus. The constitution the way things are today is bogus, flawed and should be revamped.”

He expressed that the guidelines of commitment for a people’s constitution were complied in that frame of mind of the ongoing Nigerian constitution.

The constitution didn’t go through a referendum and didn’t embrace the country’s diversity. “The new constitution that The Patriots want will not suppress that,” he expressed.

“At the moment in Nigeria, what we try to do is to force people to be what they are not. I believe that Nigeria is a union of nations and there is nothing wrong with that,” he mentioned.

He likewise explained that The Patriots is working with the interaction for another constitution for the country through expansive public commitment and not thinking of one.
